How are school finances managed day in and day out? According to Granville CSD's new Business Official, Liz Viele, "It’s different every day. The goal is to be responsible for taxpayer funds while ensuring they’re used for the best education possible."
Mrs. Viele joined the district on November 1st under the guidance of Interim Business Manager Vince Canini and is excited to be part of the Granville team.
Before stepping into this role, Mrs. Viele worked as Secretary to the Superintendent in Warrensburg, NY, while she completed her Master’s in Business Management and earned a certificate in School District Business Leadership. "I was fortunate to have a mentor in our Superintendent who encouraged me to pursue further education and internships in school business finance," she shared.
Commuting from Chestertown, NY, Mrs. Viele brings a passion for numbers and a strong desire to grow professionally. When asked why she chose Granville, she said, “I’ve met many staff members over the years who spoke highly of the district, including Interim Principal Duell, who I worked with in Warrensburg. And the chance to be mentored by Mr. Canini was an opportunity I couldn’t pass up. He’s done it all in education—from Teacher to Principal to Superintendent and now School Business Official.”
"I know I have big shoes to fill following Cathy Somich's tenure, but I’m excited to grow into this role and take on challenges like navigating state aid while finding new opportunities for our district," Ms. Viele added.
Please join us in welcoming Liz Viele to Granville CSD! We’re thrilled to have her on our team.
